Devon....

After spending a few nights in a tent (albeit a comfy one), we spent the second week of our september hols in Torcross, Devon. This is just a few miles from Dartmouth. We rented a flat on the seafront, which was very civilised and well located to visit beautiful South Devon. I even spotted dolphins in the bay very early one morning (being woken by a baby sometimes has its advantages)!

We spent days discovering hidden coves around Salcombe, and munching crab sandwiches and cakes. We also found a fabulous farm shop near our base, which we visited nearly every day! Nick rustled up many a delicious dinner made using local produce.

Scarlett developed a lot while while on holiday and loved the beach, and exploring. One of the funniest moments was watching her enjoy her first babycinno, and dunk her biscuit.....messy is not the word! Can't wait for our next visit....

Popdance Tea 'Pop' Party in aid of Grove House Hospice

Popdance is a fab business, set up by two dynamic mums to bring dance classes to adults around the uk. A great way to keep fit and have a laugh while learning a routine over 4 weeks. The best bit is that the routines taught are set to pop music that everyone loves!

There are classes popping up around the country. The classes began with a couple in St Albans, which is where I am from.

Popdance are holding a Tea 'Pop' Party on October 22nd, 2010 10 am, at the Thistle Hotel, Watford Road, St Albans AL2 3DS. This is in aid of Grove House Hospice, an amazing place which my family have personal experience of. It provides real help to those suffering from serious illness, and their families and was set up by my childhood doctor after her husband died.

The Tea Party promises to be lots of fun, with dance demos and chance to join in. Plus cupcakes, tea and stalls of lovely things to buy!

Tickets are £5 which includes tea and a cake, and all profits go directly to Grove House.

Lettie Belle are very pleased to have a stall, and will be selling artwork, cushions and lots of other little treats!

Please do come along if you can, tickets can be bought at www.popdance.co.uk

Feather Down Farm Fun!

Our little family just went away for two weeks in Devon. The first few nights were spent 'glamping'at Aller Farm, which is part of Feather Down Farm Days. This is where you stay in large Pioneer tents on a farm. The scheme gives farms the chance to use spare fields and have another income. Visitors get to cook on wood burning stoves, shop for local produce in the honesty shop, and see the animals every day. The beds and flushing toilet in each tent account for the reference to 'glamping'. Having done our fair share of proper camping in questionable conditions, the husband and I welcome a bit of luxury these days!

This was our third experience of Feather Down on different farms, and once again we loved it! As it was late in the season, we were actually alone though there were 7 tents in total. Being a dairy farm, the tents are surrounded by fields of cows. This thrilled Scarlett and her highlight was feeding a 10 day old calf called Princess every morning, as well as travelling from the tents to the car in a wheel barrow!

I even milked a cow, which was an experience. The family who run the farm were so friendly and welcoming. The surrounding parts of Devon and Dorset are beautiful, and we were never short of activities.

Check out www.featherdown.co.uk, there are many farms in the UK taking part. Very much recommended for families!

Summer Memories

While trawling through thousands of pictures on the laptop (of which we have printed about 20!), I found this image of Scarlett at her best friend's Teddy Bears picnic party. This dress is from H&M and has been worn countless times over the summer. A typically British Summer - hence the tights worn in July! We love the dress and it comes with matching knickers!
